Bethel
About us

Bethel Aged Care Facility is operated by Empowered Living Support Services Ltd (ELSS), which was formed in 2002 specifically to help disadvantaged people. ELSS is a not-for-profit, non-government, public benevolent institution. Run by two generations of the Proctor family, the company is committed to providing senior care in the Hunter region. It is this strong social and family commitment that saw Bethel successfully complete its last triennial audit in November 2004. Carried out by The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, the Facility met all 44 operating standards and is accredited to January 2008.
Our Philosophy
At Bethel we help our residents live as independent and active a life as possible within an environment that is secure and caring. Central to this is our ‘ageing in place’ philosophy. No matter what level of mobility our residents have, we want them to enjoy as much independence as they can and feel they are treated as individuals. We want them to feel secure in the fact that Bethel is their home and they don’t have to leave unless they want to.
Care
When new residents come to Bethel we talk to them and their family about their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We then develop individual care plans that are reviewed regularly or when a resident’s needs change.
Importantly, we make sure we spend one-on-one time with every resident each day, and because we do not have a high staff turnover, our residents develop a rapport with us. We also provide 24 hour registered nursing care, specialised nursing and a call alarm system in all the rooms.
Our Team
Moving into a new home is stressful. At Bethel our staff work closely with all new residents to help them settle in and explain how things work. Our staff and pastoral care team are trained in providing emotional support to residents and family members. We want our residents to feel Bethel is their home and they are part of a bigger family.
